Post  Izzy on Sun Dec 06, 2009 4:04 pm

well folks, looks like winter is here Mad .....from the weather channel.com
    Sun., Dec. 6, 2009

... A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES AND CENTRAL PLAINS TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

DETAILS CONCERNING THE TRACK OF THIS DEVELOPING SYSTEM REMAIN UNCERTAIN... HOWEVER THE POTENTIAL FOR A MAJOR WINTER STORM AFFECTING THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES REGION MID WEEK LOOMS LARGE. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING AND PERSIST THROUGH MUCH OF WEDNESDAY... BRINGING A MIXTURE OF FREEZING RAIN... RAIN AND SNOW TO THE REGION. HEAVY PRECIPITATION WITHIN THE GREAT LAKES REGION APPEARS LIKELY BUT IT REMAINS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE PRECIPITATION TYPE AND POTENTIAL AMOUNTS OVER NORTHERN INDIANA... SOUTHERN MICHIGAN AND NORTHWEST OHIO.

BY LATE WEDNESDAY... A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL BLAST ACROSS THE AREA FOLLOWED BY VERY WINDY CONDITIONS AND SHARPLY COLDER TEMPERATURES WITH LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW EXPECTED IN ITS WAKE ACROSS FAR NORTHERN INDIANA AND ALL OF LOWER MICHIGAN WHICH WILL CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THURSDAY.

I like a little snow for Christmas. Makes it easier for the sleigh. But now Christmas is over and it's just..........winter! I'm a Summer sort of girl.

It says we might be getting 3 to 6 inches of snow Friday and Friday night, fun!

A STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE OHIO VALLEY ON FRIDAY. SNOW WILL LIKELY OVERSPREAD THE REGION DURING THE DAY FRIDAY AND CONTINUE FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE TAPERING TO SNOW SHOWERS ON SATURDAY. AT THIS TIME... THE BEST CHANCES FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS LOOK TO BE SOUTH OF US ROUTE 6 WHERE 3 TO AS MUCH AS 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE.

I think it was quite nice of Mother Nature to give everyone a SNOW WEEKEND....she waited until all the children were home from school and then cranked up the snow...she figures everyone is so tense and crabby with life we all needed a little down time. I especially like the snow she dumped on Washington...do you think she is trying to tell the govt. something????? Wink

We have got HUGE drifts in our driveway. Our neighbor usually comes and plows us out, so I expect he'll be down sometime today. I'll make him dinner, since he's not married. He appreciates a good home-cooked meal, and I appreciate his plowing out our driveway.

Our sidewalk to the garage was a four foot drift also infront of the service door to the garage....hubby had to shovel out his truck this am and proceeded to crack a rib trying to get his truck door open....sigh....I just came in from shoveling off the front porch of about 3 ft. drifts and got the front door open...where are all those neighbors with their snow blowers when you need one to come by...????....the city snow plow just went by, but I haven't even begun to shovel out the garage driveway, usually I just get the driveway shoveled out and they come by and plow me in....ah...winter in OHIO
